alarm, just about night— the mail carrier came down and Said the Mormons were coming— I was not alarmed— I told Aunt (Fleming) she need not be alarmed that the Mormons were not coming— I Said I wanted to be with my folks in — but to say that I was afraid— I was not— Mrs. Fleming went to — The Smiths were killed on Thursday— and we went to on the Die Vernon on Friday— We went on board of the Boat after night— after the alarm was given— I went with her— Mrs. Fleming went because she was alarmed— we came back to on the Tuesday following from — cant remember whether it was a moon light night, or whether there was a light in the Hall that night when Grover & came in— I did not say I saw them until they came into the dining room, but Supposed they came through the Hall— The Troops came up to on the Boreas on Friday the day we left— The Boreas & Die vernon were both up on that day— it was not the regular day for the Boreas, but they hired her to bring the troops up— while at Mrs. Fleming & myself boarded at Mrs. Dixon’s— I told them at I did not know any thing about who killed the Smiths— I afterwards stated to a great many people— I told it to my father in about [p. 57]
